This study examines the challenges facing China's increasingly complex human resource management (HRM) after its WTO accession and consequently the implications for further reform of government policy and enterprise-level HRM practices. The paper concludes that current HR practices are diverse between enterprises with different ownership, industry sector, location and history. The direction of future changes may depend on the level of involvement from external forces as well as internal strategies adopted by Chinese enterprises to survive.

Abstract: Service sector is one of the fastest growing sectors in the world and is facing immense pressure to improve their quality of products and services to compete and achieve a leading position in the global market. The issues related to quality therefore, need to be addressed for better understanding the relationships among the quality practices which could enhance the organization’s performance. The purpose of this research study is to model the key total quality management (TQM) practices relationship by understanding the dynamics between them that will help service organizations to implement TQM successfully. The present paper utilizes the interpretive structural modeling (ISM) methodology to understand the mutual relationships among the TQM practices and presents a hierarchy-based model of the practices. The research shows that there exists a group of practices of TQM having a high driving power and low dependence requiring attention and of strategic importance while another group consists of those practices which have high dependence and are the resultant actions. There also exists a group having high driving power and high dependence. They acts as linkage and influence some of the practices of TQM. The paper ends with a discussion on implications for research as well as practice.

The purpose of this paper is to develop a comprehensive framework in order to identify, rank and classify key quality dimensions for healthcare establishments (HCEs) and to understand the contextual relationship between them for growth and development of Indian HCEs. The methodology adopted in this research was interpretive structural modelling (ISM) and Matrice d’Impacts Croisés Multiplication Appliquée á un Classement (MICMAC) analyses to identify and classify the healthcare quality dimensions (HCQDs), typically identified by an extensive literature review and through experts opinion. The integrated model revealed quality dimensions such as ‘state of knowledge management’; services of HCE for disease burden of society’ and ‘patient expectation and perception of hospital services’ as dependent HCQDs. ‘Priority area management for critical care’ and ‘treatment chain management including referral and evacuation chain management’ were found as the linkage quality dimensions. While ‘core quality dimension’; ‘associated supportive quality dimension’ and ‘clinical governance quality’ were found to be independent HCQDs. This research will aid healthcare practitioners and decision makers in selecting right quality dimensions for the sustainable growth of Indian HCEs.
